
A police officer has denied he claimed to have skilled harassment from Chelsea and Australia striker Samantha Kerr “purely to get a prison cost over the road”.
The footballer, 31, denies inflicting racially aggravated harassment to PC Stephen Lovell throughout an incident at Twickenham police station in south-west London within the early hours of 30 January final 12 months.
The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) authorised the Met Police to cost Ms Kerr after PC Lovell submitted a second witness assertion, a jury at Kingston Crown Court docket heard.
The CPS initially dominated that the proof didn’t meet the edge to cost Ms Kerr following the officer’s first assertion, given 10 months earlier than the second.

When requested if he was “decided” to pursue Ms Kerr “by means of the prison courts”, the officer replied: “Sure.”
“The CPS recognized that there was no proof of harassment, alarm or misery being triggered,” Ms Forbes stated.
“[I am] going to recommend you’re claiming to have skilled this affect purely to get a prison cost over the road.”
PC Lovell denied this.
Prosecution barrister Invoice Emlyn Jones KC requested PC Lovell if he had been involved about describing his emotions when he gave his first assertion.
On re-examination, PC Lovell stated Ms Kerr’s phrases made him really feel “belittled and upset”.
He added: “I did not make one thing as much as get a cost over the road.”
