Two New York Yankees followers who tried to tear the ball from Los Angeles Dodgers fielder Mookie Betts’ glove throughout sport 4 of the World Collection in October have been banned from all Main League Baseball stadiums indefinitely.
Betts, 32, was catching a foul ball hit by ex-Yankee Gleyber Torres on the proper discipline wall when the followers, seated within the first row, grabbed his wrist and prised open his glove to take the ball.
MLB wrote a letter this week to John P Hansen and Austin Capobianco to say their behaviour at Yankee Stadium “went far over the road of acceptable fan behaviour”.
The league added if the 2 males had been found at any MLB venues or occasions, they “could be faraway from the premises and topic to arrest for trespass”.
Each followers had been ejected from the sport – which the Yankees gained 11-4 – and had been stopped from attending sport 5 the next evening, when the Dodgers sealed a 7-6 victory to clinch the championship.
