A person who has spent the final decade attempting to retrieve a misplaced Bitcoin fortune from his native landfill says it’s now price round £500m.
James Howells, an IT engineer from Newport, mentioned he unintentionally discarded a tough drive reportedly containing 8,000 items of the coveted cryptocurrency again in 2013.
He mentioned it was price £4m when it was mistakenly binned, however now estimates its worth to have risen to round £500m.
Newport Metropolis Council has refused his pleas to excavate the tip web site, beforehand saying the excavation was “not doable” beneath its licencing allow and “excavation itself would have an enormous environmental influence on the encompassing space”.
